It’s getting toward Christmas and the end of the year when many folks make charitable donations because of tax reasons and holiday messages.
Consumer Reports has an article entitled How to make your donations really count that will be read by some of your donors and potential donors. It’s an article donors and non-profit members should read.
The article mentions different web sites where consumers can find out details about how charities spend the money they receive. You all know the relevant links, but here they are in one place. Some sites offer free information, some you have to register, and others want a “donation.”
AIP’s Charity Watch
Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance
Charity Navigator
Wall Watchers’ MinistryWatch
Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability
Charity Reviews Council

How to Read the IRS Form 990 & Find Out What it Means
It’s also good to go to these sites and see what’s being said about your organization and correct any errors.
